New painting on the easel!

Currently this painting is finished and I have moved forward to a new painting. Please follow the link to follow the creating of Spyridon.

Finally finished!!

I consider this one to be completed and have signed it. The first layers of varnish are already on it! Will try to find an appropriate frame after drying.

Creating the Exit is just about leaving all what has been brooken behind and start running towards a new colorfull world. If there is no exit from your old world: Just create one yourself!

Oil panting on MDF panel 60 * 90 cm. Coated with acryl mix Titan White / Black. Underpainting in Talens Rembrandt Oil Titan White and Raw Umber. Colors glaced with Rembrandt Oil paints and Old Holland's Scheveningen Medium.

On the edge of completeness

When is a painting finished?? Sometimes....

Did a lot of work last weeks: worked out the hair in much more detail and am quite happy. Painting hair is not still on th level where I would like to be, but persistent I keep on trying to step up each painting.



Also tried to make the painting more exciting by adding deep an shallow shades... Will wait with signing for another 4 weeks or so (keeping it out of sight).

- Panel coated with Acrylic Talens Amsterdam (White Titan grayed down with Black)
- Underpainting in Oilpaint Talens Rembrandt Raw Umber and Titan White
- Painting glazed with Oilpaint Talen Rembrandt and Medium Schevingen for Oil

Getting closer to finish...

Today I finished the first layer on the hair, worked out well. Think I need 1 more layer to complete...

After that I'll start working out the highlights and deep shades in order to finish, will take a few more sessions I suppose.

Wish I was a rich man and not so handsome....

More and more progress...

In spite of heavy business took some days of and spent one painting. Started with the second layer of the dress. Also dimmed the color of the baloon, I like striking pink but this color....

Herewith a detail of the dress and the wrinkles of it... Some parts might need a 3rd layer.

Preparing for the hair....

Today I started with repainting the underdrawing of the hair. Because I wasn't sure how to started I only indicated the hair in the original underpainting. Last drawing the hair ended up like a bundle of straw....Hopefully this will help me in creating more realistic hair.

Although it looks that the har is almost overengineered I think it is okay for now. I will lose a lot of detail during the two or three layers glazing I need.

First layer of dress completed....

Today I finsihed the first layer of the dress, more work then expected.. and some layers to go. However the effect is as expected (even better...). Tomorrow I start detailing out the underpainting of the hair.
